With a profound knowledge about sustainability Maria Viftrup designs future materials, strategies, colours and interactions.

Maria Viftrup is a project manager of recycling projects, material archives, engaging happenings and colourful experiences. She works with industry, municipalities and users to develop visions of positive futures. She combines hands-on development with strategic, analytical thinking and design methods.

She works in the fields of Design, Communication and Art – and often in a combination of the three. Through user involvement, project management and hands-on experiments she engages and inspires others to think and act on sustainability in production and consumption.

Maria is currently finishing her Cand. Design at Design School Kolding.

2018: Collaboration with Really and Kvadrat to develop strategies for working with coloured textile waste and designing a prototype collection of possibilities for colour sorting the waste.

2018:Art project ‘Temporary Archive of Object Ecosystems’. Exhibited at main exhibition of Berlin art festival 48 Stunde Neukölln and at Trekantområdets Festuge.

2017 – 2018: Founder and manager of Kombucha Lab at Design School Kolding.

2018: BioShades workshop facilitator at TextileLab Amsterdam x Manufacture Copenhagen x Biologigaragen. 

2017: Internship at TextileLab Amsterdam, Waag Society – Developing a material archive for future DIY design materials.

2014 – 2018: Student assistant at Design School Kolding.

2016: Art project 'Stedsanser.' Exhibited at Trekantsområdets Festuge.

2015: Internship at OFFCOLOUR STUDIO.

2015: Collaboration with textile company Gabriel. Designing textiles for future tactility.

2014 - present: Personal material archive. Collecting, analysing and archiving more than 2000 materials.

2012: Costume designer for Jelling Seminarium’s musical.

2011: Talent School for innovation.

2019: Finalist at Danish Design Awards Young Talents.

2017:Colorama Award – Winner of Filmars Colorama Award for best colour trend and palette.

2017: Recipient of travel grant from ‘Fællesfonden til fordel for beskæftigede i håndværksfagene i Kolding’.

2012: Award for highest grades possible from final exams at High School

2011: Talent School of innovation. Winner of 'Playmaker Price' and second place in 'Overall Idea'.
