MOVING COLOURS

EXPERIMENTAL / FUTURE / TEXTILES / COLOUR

Material experiments with inspiration from biomimicry and a focus on the future of colours and dyeing techniques. How can a colour and material be separated, enabling the colour to move between several materials?

With inspiration in a special fungus, which is able to move between different biological hosts, I experimented with colours and liquids. The aim was to investigate new materials and develop inspirational material for the future of colours and dyes.   As one of the experiments I developed a model of a material consisting of small ‘pockets’ filled with a coloured liquid called oobleck. The colour of the material can be changed by changing the liquid and one can control the softness and bounce by changing the consistence of the oobleck.
